been workin' towards that list completion...

been awhile since i've posted here... i update the list from time to time.
    two new developments:
-1- I finally got my carry permit in about six weeks ago...
-2- I finally got my Bonnaroo ticket in last weekend!

so, that's one to mark off and one step closer to marking off another.

    addendum

just a kind-of update on the last couple of posts.   carry permit still pending.  they said 6 weeks to 90 days, so i'm unconcerned. it's only been a week or two since i filed the paperwork.

however - yesterday, i did buy my very own, very first gun!! i bought a Glock 26, which is a .9mm and it is a
mazing how different it feels to own something like that.

powerful. and frightening.  and amazingly, incredibly independant.

my very good friend Patrick and i went to the gun show in Franklin and strolled and inspected and searched until we found what i wanted.  it's not a sig sauer, but it also didn't cost me any appendages, limbs or first-born children.  so - i handed the guy my driver's license and my large stack of $20 bills fresh from the ATM and he handed me my gun.

wanna meet me at On*Target later for some target practice?  'cause now i'm anxious actually fire it!!

    permit pending...

the fingerprinting, the application, the fees - it's all done.  TBI is running some crazy-intensive background check on yours truly and once that clears, they'll mail my handgun carry permit to me.

well, how cool is that?  i've (nearly) done something that i never really thought i could.  with a very minimal effort at that.

now, on to the rest of the list!!

well, it wasn't specifically on the list, but i did something new this weekend - took the handgun safety class; the pre-requisite for getting your carry permit in the state of tennessee (which is on the list).  it was pretty interesting, actually, and i did well - scored 100% on the range portion.  that means every round i fired from 3, 7, and 15 yards went just where i intended it to go. for someone that had never even touched, let alone fired, a gun before a couple of months ago - not too bad at all...
now for the background check, the finger-printing, the application, the fee, the waiting period, yaddah-yaddah-yaddah... in 4 weeks to 90 days, i will be a legally-licensed, permit-holding, carrier of handguns in the state of tennessee and its reciprocals.
not to long ago, i didn't even know i wanted to do that.  but it's pretty cool to know i can.
