the List - keeps growing

You should really consider taking things off of this list that you don't have any control over. Stick to the ones that involve you!
ReplyDeleteYou can't make the girls marry, you can't make them graduate college. You're possibly setting yourself up for disappointment there. That's on them. You can help, but it's on them, and they're people with their own minds, not puppets.
Also, good luck on writing something that everyone wants to read! You would be the first person ever to accomplish that one.
That married one is iffy, too. Jessica and I have always disagreed on whether marriage should be a goal for anyone. I've got my reasons. If nothing else, it fits into that same category of depending on the heart of mind of someone else to get your own feeling of achievement and happiness. Dangerous.
Anything you publish matters. How do you define "matters"?
Mark the helping someone that really needs it off. You do that every day, hopefully. I'm sure you do. Same for make a difference. Think about your friend that was just in the car wreck, and her kids. Now think about your kids. You can scratch that one off.
And the list keeps getting shorter! Yay!
you make some good points.. luckily, this list is constantly in flux. i've made some ammendments based on your suggestions. but not all of them. certainly i help people on a daily basis. but i meant truly, sincerely help someone. have you seen 7 pounds? life-changing help someone. not in his style (i won't ruin the ending for you, but i have no intention of doing what he does, so don't worry) but my friend Jen is a world-changer, a life-changer... and i'd like to think i could affect someone's life in the manner she does on a daily basis. maybe that and making a difference go hand in hand...
